Webby Awards
The Challenge:   Provide video equipment that keeps flawless pace with a live awards event.
The Solution:

Known as the Academy Awards® of the Internet, the Webby Awards are not yet as big as their Hollywood counterpart — but they're getting there. For the 2005 ceremony — the ninth annual edition and the first in New York — some 80 awards were handed out to an eclectic honor roll of winners, from a Texas high school student to former Vice President Al Gore.

Event producer Empire Entertainment called on PRG to provide the video equipment for the Webby Awards dinner, which featured eight video sources, including live cameras, DVDs, PowerPoint and ABI files. The rules of the show also meant a lot of quick cues: Winners were limited to acceptance speeches of just five words. To pull it all together with speed and precision, PRG provided two Digital Projection 15 sx projectors, Grass Valley Switching for cameras and record, and a Folsom Screen Pro for switching to the screen.

PRG neatly fit the equipment into the limited space available at the venue, Gotham Hall, a former bank whose granite rotunda also held the stage, screen and tables for 550 guests. The timeframe was tight, too: The whole project, from installation to removal, was accomplished in just 18 hours.

Under the watchful eyes of international mainstream media and countless bloggers, the complex production went off without a glitch. At an event honoring creative minds and cutting-edge technology, PRG showed it was right at home.
